3DPrint.name is a browser-based tool that turns any name into a printable 3D sign. You type a name, watch it render as a realistic 3D preview, and export print-ready files, all without installing anything or signing up. It is part of the 3D Print Land family of tools.
The problem
Personalised name signs, door plaques and keyrings are some of the most popular things people print, but creating them normally means opening CAD software, learning how to extrude text, aligning multiple colours and exporting clean STLs. That is a big barrier for hobbyists and a slow, repetitive job for sellers.
What I built
- A web app that converts a typed name into a print-ready 3D model in the browser.
- A live 3D preview that updates as you change the name, sign type, font and colours.
- Export to STL, 3MF and split-STL, ready for multicolour printing.
- Ready-made templates for desk signs, door plaques and keyrings.
- A free, no-account, no-watermark starting experience so anyone can design and download.
Approach
The whole point is to remove the CAD step. Everything runs in the browser, the preview mirrors what will actually print, and the export options are shaped around how multicolour 3D printers really work, with separate files per colour. It is designed to be usable by a complete beginner but fast enough for someone selling personalised prints at volume.
Why it matters
3DPrint.name turns a common, fiddly 3D task into something anyone can do in seconds. It connects my product, tooling and 3D printing work: making the kind of software that makes the physical side of 3D printing faster and more accessible.
Current status
3DPrint.name is live and free to start, with templates, guides and paid options, and continues to gain new sign types, fonts and features.
